What We Are
Rooted is a neighborhood Wine and Beer Shop & Bar. We will carry exceptional wines from boutique wineries and breweries from around the world, with a focus on natural, organic and family owned producers. The environment will be welcoming, warm, and family friendly. We will serve cheese and charcuterie plates, as well as additional food items from local chefs and restaurants. We will engage our customers with hopes of educating them, and providing them with options that are unique and interesting.
Who We Are
Kevin Regan
Kevin began his journey into the wine and beer industry in New Zealand at Peregrine Wines. He dabbled into everything – pruning, harvesting, making wine, and wine tastings. That led Kevin to earn his Advanced Level III WSET certification while working at a wine shop in New Jersey. Kevin then moved south to Charleston and worked at Bin 526, Merrow’s Garden Bar at workshop, and most recently as Beverage Director at Kiki & Rye and Community Table. Kevin is an avid outdoorsman, and you can find him out in a kayak with his 2 young daughters when he is not tasting the latest brews.
Peter Demarest
Peter is a Sommelier. He is passionate about wine and looks to share his passion with the customers of Rooted. He was previously the Sommelier at The Grand Bohemian Hotel in downtown Charleston. Prior to that, Peter worked at Gary’s Wine & Marketplace in New Jersey and Cardullos in Boston. Peter is here to teach and guide – to take all of the information in the wine world and make it manageable for anyone to understand. I love to help people learn, to help them be savvy when they shop and be confident when they order. There is still so much myth and mythology around wine and beer and spirits. There is so much interest in the path of Sommelier. So much curious fascination about what I do, and I look forward to a long career of showing people exactly how amazing the world truly is.
Bill Hoffman
Bill spent the majority of his adult life in the Apartment & Corporate Housing industries. He worked at Oakwood Worldwide helping them create and become the leader in Corporate Housing and Serviced Apartments globally. He later worked for Equity Residential during their growth period becoming the largest owner of apartments in the United States. Since leaving the corporate world, Bill has focused on numerous business ventures – mostly related to wine. He opened Bin 526 and then followed his passion for wine and moved to St. Helena in Napa Valley where he became the Managing Partner of The Saint Wine Bar, as well as opening a retail grab and go shop during Covid. He moved back to the Carolinas to open Rooted and get involved in wine ventures.
